About Champagne Fitness
Champagne Fitness was established in 2003 in Tiburon, CA emphasizing personalized fitness training and nutritional counseling for young athletes. In 2006, the business moved to Corte Madera, and the clientele soon evolved to include young athletes as well as their parents. Currently, a majority of the clientele is between 35-55 years of age. Champagne Fitness is focused on working with beginners and intermediates who are looking to better understand the fundamentals of weight training, nutrition and fitness as a way of life. Located on Tamalpais Drive in Corte Madera, Champagne Fitness is secluded yet easily accessible, just one-quarter mile off of highway 101.
The facility is extremely private with a warm, personal feel and looks directly over the Corte Madera park to the peak of Mount Tam. The 800sq/ft studio is very versatile, allowing for a variety of indoor and outdoor workouts. When it comes to finding a great personal training studio, location and atmosphere are everything. Most importantly, this is a dog friendly environment and clients are more than welcome to have their well-behaved dogs accompany them during the session.
About Gary Champagne
Since I was five years old I have been very active, playing a variety of sports including baseball, tennis, soccer, crew, football and basketball. In 1998 I suffered a severe foot injury during a baseball game that landed me in a leg cast for six months. Due to many months of inactivity, my body fat increased tremendously, topping my weight off at 250 pounds as a 5’11” freshman in high school. With a foot injury limiting my ability to run, rowing was one of the only sports that would complement my competitive demeanor, yet respect the limitations of my injury.
During my time as a student-athlete at Redwood High School I rowed for the Marin Rowing Association. I was named team captain for both novice and varsity squads and was awarded male athlete of the year in both 2001 and 2002. During the summers of 2001 and 2002 I was selected as one of fourteen rowers in the nation to join the U.S. Junior National Team, competing in the World Rowing Championships overseas in Germany and Lithuania. As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley I rowed in the top Freshman and Varsity boats under renowned coach Steve Gladstone. During my career at Cal, I developed a unique style of muscular and cardiovascular training to keep me at the top of the squad. I also found that proper nutrition was a way to amplify the effects of my training, enabling me to train harder, more frequently, and recover faster between workouts.
Since then, I have dedicated my life to the study of exercise physiology, sports nutrition and teaching people of all ages how to best help themselves achieve their fitness goals.
Currently I am the owner of Champagne Fitness and a fully certified personal trainer emphasizing nutrition and weight management. In the future, I plan to expand the business in Bay Area and continue learning and practicing new techniques in the field of training as it evolves.
